High Powered Holiday - Part Deux

The lunatic fringe, folks. That's where we live. The lunatic fringe. And Saturday's activities are proof of that.

If you ever read the comments on my humble blog, you are familiar with our dear, old friend Evan. I met Evan in college. We had classes next to each other and met while waiting for our respective classes to start. For whatever reason I mentioned that I drove a '67 bug. Him being a Volkswagen fan, that pretty much sealed our friendship. He became my mechanic until one day when I needed new CV joints on my Honda and he had a boat to rebuild. He sent a friend of his to do the job. I ended up marrying that friend. I got a new mechanic, but kept the friendship with Evan. I believe he may be the only friend we have that we both brought to the marriage.

ANYWAY! After living for years in outer Mongolia he has moved back to the Houston area, so we actually get to see him every once in awhile. And Saturday he invited us out to the motocross track. Yes, you heard right, the motocross track. When he's there, he does stuff like this:

When I'm there I do stuff like this:

Unfortunately, when I was doing this I had a helmet on my head and the camera in my pocket. He coerced, made, forced me to get on that bike with him where he drove me around like the lunatic he is. He did wheelies, y'all! Wheelies! I'm an old woman with a heart condition! OK, maybe I don't have a heart condition, but my father does and if had seen me doing wheelies at a thousand miles an hour he would have have had a heart attack. I haven't had that much adrenaline in my body in a long time.

Seriously though, it was awesome and a good time was had by all. The boys all rode. My boy had a mishap with his bike that freaked him out enough that he didn't want to ride anymore that day. I have no pictures of him riding. My mechanic had pretty good time himself. But perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the whole day was this:

Which led to this:

Which led to this:

We are in so much trouble. A 7-year-old in her own pink motocross helmet. What am I supposed to do with that?

And ladies, Evan is awesome with the kids. We all love him. Thank you, my friend.

Our Sunday was a little more sedate. More on that later.

Evan arrives, bowing to the crowds, "Thank You, thank you!".
Wow! Great and wholly accurate account of what happened out there! We had a BALL! And Ms. Elisharose bought tons of DELICIOUS (and quite healthy) FOOD!! I usually show up and ride for 45 minutes to an hour, then split. But because of the whole grilling affair, kids, lots of bikes, we were out there for 5 hours.

You just needed to know what it feels like to ride a modern dirtbike! Outstanding acceleration! And imagine how much quicker it is with only one rider!

Lots of fun....let's repeat that, anytime!

Best,
Evan :)

By the lack of comments by all of your mommy/home-school lady blogging buds, I surmise that they aren't remotely intrigued by any of this....repulsed, perhaps....(except yd's) ....Hey yd's, I'm Evan. Good to meet you. Handshake.
